Using stock cooler, with no overclock, the CPU multitasks very well, and so far has performed fine in video-related work. I had no assembly problems or memory issues, which is/was a particular issue with past Ryzen versions.

The price is high. So, if you don't want to do anything with video, or other heavily-threaded applications, choose something cheaper.
I do want to record and edit video.

The 9900k's higher per core frequency is useful for high-refresh games, but it's borderline use-case for me. Often GPUs bottleneck fps sensitive games (esp. at 1440p and up). Still, PBtech's i9 buyers don't seem to regret their purchase either. Using it at 1080 with a high-refresh screen might make sense. I don't game at 1080p.

A nice bonus: the stock cooler (if you have a window into your case) will also show you 'mirage' effects of the RGB fans rotating at different speeds - even backwards. You need to connect the fan to a USB 2.0 header, but it's a flashy little extra that contrasts favourably against Intel's lack of cooler.

This CPU is a total overkill for almost any workload. I can have basically every piece of productivity software that I have running at once, with a browser open and 100+ tabs with a video playing and still play a AAA game with very little performance loss.
