Bought this as part of the Boxing Day sale, and it has definitely made my PC a lot speedier. I used to have issues with Discord where toggle mute would lag for several seconds when playing a game, but that issue has disappeared since upgrading. Plugged it in and set it to 5Ghz on all cores. Haven't looked back. Runs cooler than expected. Excellent value compared to the 8700k if you don't need Hyperthreading. I upgraded from an i5-6600k, with my thermals usually sitting around 50C under heavy load, so seeing my temps rise to close to 72C after upgrading was a bit of a shock.
I recommend using a fan with "High Static Pressure", I chose to get a Noctua NF-F12 industrialPPC-2000 PWM 120mm Fan and it dropped my max temps from that ~72C to ~60C with just 1 fan change.
I have yet to overclock though, so I would likely recommend watercooling if you want to be on the safe side.

It's good, I now have much higher minimum frames and almost zero stutter from frame drops in all games. My 1080 ti is now the bottleneck of my system. Amd ryzen was pretty tempting at this price point as well, but they seem to be a little less consistent frame rate wise and I don't really do much workstation stuff so I stuck with Intel. Who knows, maybe ryzen will pass this chip across the board following some driver updates.
