Digitus DS-30220-4 PCIE USB3.0 2-Port Add-On card w/low Profile

The unit can be recognized by HP G2 headset as far as it is loaded with microsoft drive and the unit dose not really need the 4-pin power supply to run.
However the socket of the 4-pin power supply is below the standard and the whole unit of the power supply is fragile. I was struggling to insert a power connector to the 4-pin socket and the whole unit was just lifted off when a moderate force was applied. Bought this to upgrade a Dell Optiplex 990 SFF to USB 3.

To work in an SFF case under Linux (Ubuntu) I needed a low-profile PCI-E card with an NEC (Renesas) chip. These requirements narrow the choice to probably 5% of available USB 3 PCI-E cards.

People on the net say that the NEC/Renesas chip is the only one recognized by Linux and I found this to be true. Cards with other chips, eg Via, work fine under Windows, but not Linux.

The card has a Molex power connector. Currently, I use the card without a power cable connected. A couple of USB Flash drives and a Crucial SSD in an Orico USB 3 enclosure worked fine like that. The SSD in the USB 3 enclosure copies files at about 100 MB/s, that’s a very good speed for USB 3.

More power-hungry devices may need power connected.

I recommend this good value USB 3 Digitus PCI-E card to anyone, especially if they need a low profile card for an SFF case and/or to run under the Linux OS.

I am running Win10 and it took 3 reboots for the system to find and install the correct driver, but once it did the card worked correctly - indicating that they were indeed USB3 ports.
