Great little SBC

This Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W is smaller and faster than I expected
It can easily run Pi Hole software, even when hosted over wi-fi
It will run software designed for ARM7 and also 64bit OS

Much better than the Zero W, and very good price!

Been waiting to get my hands on this Zero 2 W. ~5 times faster than Zero W, with 64bit Raspberry OS. Same size so it fits the same cases and cables. UI is much more responsive - you can actually browse the internet on this without spending 10 minutes trying to load up a website.

Best of all, reasonable price for NZ standards.

Needed a quick replacement

I had an old Pi Zero monitoring camera that had succumbed (thanks to a fall) after 5 years of 24/7 running. The new Pi Zero 2 was the perfect answer for an in-place upgrade: faster processor with the same form factor. These, and other Pi boards have been hard to find! Processing was fast and delivery ok (Courier issues not withstanding).
Back up and running within the week.

Surprisingly Powerful

I used this to put together the mynaturewatch camera out of interest. https://mynaturewatch.net/daylight-camera-instructions. Using Buster lite, it worked first time. Key seems to be not to expect a real-time GUI to work - but web portal is all that's needed for this project.Only downside is that the CPU gets quite hot > 60C, so could use a heatsink, which PBTech don't sell. Might try one of those copper ones from Jaycar.

Add to your collection now

Another great little SBC (single board computer). Much better performance than the original zero w but don't expect too much as it still limited by the 512mb of memory.

If you need these then you know that this is what you want

This is the Big Bad Brother to the legendary Pi Zero W. What is is not is a replacement Desktop, Though it can and does run a desktop better than its previous generation of Zero! I have used the zero previously as parts of projects like webcam and music player of a received stream and this "Zero 2" can be overkill or just the exter bit of computing grunt that makes this thing worth the effort. As I am writing this I have been using a HD camera module and the Pi Zero 2 as a webcam for a zoom call and it worked so much better (powered of the computer via USB one cable data and power). I have been using it as a desktop with some software called...view more

A little Computer... needs more memory

Good little quad-core processor. However, the 512MB memory leaves it wanting. To make it function, I had to increase the swap file from the standard 100 MB to 1024 MB. Still in a tiny little package it runs well.

Great for small projects

Great platform for small projects. Found DietPi to be my favourite OS with the ease of application setup. Am pushing the 512 Mb RAM with Home Assistant and ESP home within a docker container, but seems to be okay. Make sure to factor in the peripherals you likely need - recommend mini to regular HDMI, a straight micro USB to USB A OTG cable, and a heat sink case.
