Canon PowerShot G7X MKII 20.1MP 1" CMOS Sensor, Digital Camera

I had a compact automatic camera with limited manual functions and I am very happy I have moved up to the GX7 camera - which isn't too intimidating or cumbersome. It is easy to carry about, light enough to hold steady with the nice grip, and has a lot of manual options for more creative photos as well as useful automatic settings. Worth taking the time to read the manual and play with all the options. It isn't a DSLR by any means, the lens can't be changed, zoom is 4x optical then uses digital to get closer (but it is 20MP which is excellent) and the Macro setting is really a "close-up" setting. Good camera overall, albeit expensive.

Pros:
- Generally good image quality and easy to use.
- Small and comfortable to hold, the grip on the right side feels good (if you are right handed).
- The LCD screen is big and bright, can be seen in bright sunlight (though you have to turn up the brightness), also you can change the angle of it.
- Has MANY shooting options, even a mode for taking star trails. You can also go full manual if you want to.
- Good battery life. Easily lasts a day or two of shooting.
- You can charge the battery with a micro USB cable, no need to take it out.
- Fast transfer of pictures via wifi.

- You can even control it remotely with your tablet/phone with the Connect app.

Cons:
- Very hard to focus on objects up close (eg in macro mode).
- Auto mode is not reliable (tends to overexpose). Need to learn to use other shooting modes.
- The flash is on the left side and not the center, which means that one side gets brighter than the other.
- It is picky about USB charging cables for some reason. It has to be a "charging only" one.
- No view finder (not a big deal as the LCD is good enough).

I love this camera, crystal clear recording and so easy to transfer images and videos to phone via Wi-Fi. Cell phones aren't quite there yet, and a DSLR is often too big to carry (or too intimidating for your subjects). I bought this over a year ago and it's been used so much in the time between, due to the ease at which it delivers fantastic looking photos. Great photo res. and very easy to take videos with! It is an awesome point & shoot camera. I did a lot of research online before I made this purchase and I am very satisfied with the camera performance after one month of use.
