AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D CPU

What can I say, I didn't really expect the performance gains I got upgrading from a 2700 to this. This CPU paired with a 2080 super can often see gains of 80+% in certain titles like Squad where my old 2700 was clearly bottenecking my system. Upgraded from a Ryzen 5600x, saw a jump in FPS from an average of 90 to an average of 140 in Escape from Tarkov at 1440p. 0.2% percentile FPS went from 41 to 83. If you have an AM4 socket, this is the best CPU you can get. These things run very hot (the additional cache layer insulates the substrate) meaning they’re unable to be overlcocked, this is perfectly normal, but you do need to think about your cooking solution. Searching the web, it’s common to see 90C, under votling with PBO by ~20 reduced my temps significantly, but I will still switch up my cooler soon.

This is the last hurrah for the AM4 platform, very happy with my purchase.

Upgraded from a 3700x - paired with a 3080 TUF. Have noticed a significant increase in gaming performance, most notably in the 1% lows so no longer any stutters or micro pauses in games such as AC Valhalla which is where you mostly notice it - not by having 20-30fps more at the top end. Upgraded from a 3900x to this with a 4090.

Even in 4k I noticed a big difference in FPS both average and 1% lows.
Testing with Cyberpunk 2077 at 4K Ultra settings with RT Ultra - With the 3900X I would get about 40-50FPS and was not smooth to play but with the 5800X3D I could get 55-65FPS and way smoother to play.

If you do get this CPU make sure you have a good cooler as this CPU runs pretty hot, around about 70-80 degrees average during gaming. Upgraded from a 3900x to this with a 4090.

Absolutely awesome final upgrade for those on the 1st gen, 2nd gen or even lower end 3rd gen AM4 4 core and 6 core users who play games with some multi-core use. A simple upgrade that can actually push most GPU to the absolute limit at 1080p high frame rates with those minimum lows and 0.1% lows and is a sensible upgrade for those who don't want to jump to ecosystem AM5 just yet. Also comparable to AM5 at 1440p and 4k.

I upgraded to the 5800x3d as I was having bad frame drops in Fortnite, which is a CPU hungry game. I went from dropping frames on my ryzen 5 3600 to a stable 240FPS with the X3D. Purchased this as a sort of final upgrade for my CPU, not wanting to invest the massive upfront cost in moving to the new AM5 socket. If you are reading this you probably already know, it's the best part regardless of brand, only beaten by a couple chips in the very latest gen. Obviously for heavy productivity you want more cores, but for gaming this is a top 3 choice.
