I need to even these reviews up. I've worked my way through the vives. The OG the vive pro and now this the vive pro 2. I've read many negative reviews and as many positive so lets get this straight ... this is an awesome HMD.
I don't know why anyone is struggling with software install, it is easy and has thus far worked flawlessly. You start steam VR vive console starts... you end steam VR vive console closes? too easy.
I have 2.8k hours in Vr( yes 2800) so trust me when I tell you this is awesome... NO screendoor! The sound is a little bassier than the pro and takes some getting used to but fine. The mic is nowhere near as bad as made out in some pro reviews... they are just expecting too much me thinks.
You definitely have to tone down the default SS in steam VR from 150%. It depends on how fast you run the headset. For example in iracing I run 120hz and SS at 90%... still very detailed and no dropped frames whatsoever. Other games you can leave it at 90hz and really bump it up SS to 150% and beyond.... this is all assuming you have a beast of a computer of course... if you don't then why are you buying this in the first place? Get some cardboard and put your phone in it cheapskate.
The complaint about the price is laughable... VR is expensive. If you have the 1.0 base stations and original controller's like I do then its a good upgrade from the pro... until the Varjo aero gets here of course....

I own vive, pro eye and cosmos. This delivers the best picture by far but only when run by a gpu that can handle it. My old gtx1080ti was not enough as you need to go rtx to get it to run its native resolution. I am now running a rtx 3080ti and this head set is clear. I don't notice the hum, but did when I tried on my 1080ti. Audio and mic are average compared to an index. Best picture I have seen on a hmd to date. I own vive, pro eye and cosmos. The drivers and software for the Vive pro 2 are a mess so only get if you are ready to spend a lot of time fixing software when it breaks.
