MSI Ex-Demo Modern 14" FHD Ultrabook - Intel i5-10210U/16GB/500GB SSD/ Win10 Pro

Very tidy package that is solid and performs. Reviews say there is a heat sink issue but I've not experienced it so far. I have had this for 2 months now. I had an Asus Zenbook previous and my last 4 laptops have been Asus. MSI is performing well in comparison and this Taiwanese product is as good as its counterpart. I found the display gambit is pretty good despite the reservations I've read. Also not nearly as noisy fan as some of my earlier Asus models despite having a harder working processor. Finish is smart though. Curiously, carry wise/weight not noticeably different from my old Zenbook. Keyboard well light and responsive. Just missing the biometric scanner (no biggie) and happy to have all the ports built in - instead of relying on a hub. Sound was also a concern in reviews but I found its fine - I'm using an angled stand most times. For the price and performance I think its competitively positioned against bigger marque brands offering similar ultras like Asus, HP, Dell, Apple etc. Worth a try. 4 stars presently only cos I've only had for 2 mths.

To start, this laptop I would not recommend if you don't have a desktop at home. This is no replacement for daily family workload unless it's just simple browsing tasks. In that case, an HDMI cable and wireless mouse/keyboard for your TV would be the go.

Recommend: Purchase a Microsoft office license. Buy a wireless mouse. Uninstall all the pre installed programs you don't need (office 365, Microsoft VR etc).

Easy setup and simple to use, with a great battery life. Can comfortably binge watch tv all day without having to plug it in. Fast and snappy which is really helpful when you have to shove your laptop in your bag and take it out a lot in uni. Only downside is the battery life whic the salesperson told us would last me a day or about 6-7 hours, but at most Im only getting 4 hours.
