D-Link DAP-X1860 Mesh Wi-Fi 6 Range Extender, Dual-band AX1800, 1 x Gigabit LAN Port, Support Multi-mode - Range Extender / Access Point

Bought the product yesterday. Please read if you are using old spark hg659b modem just like me. I learnt it in a hard way ..

First of all, spark hg658b doesn't support mesh wifi

Setup with WPS Button - only connect with 2.4ghz, NOT 5ghz... Nothing we can do even change modem setting etc. I.e. Wifi range is extended but slow connection

SETUP with DLINK APP - SAME! You still cannot get 5ghz. I have try all combination of settings but no luck at all
Only 2.4ghz connected, i e. Slow connection.

The only way you can connect 5ghz is setting up by computer. You can download the Detailed Dap-X1860 manual online.

First, plug the extender to the location you want to put. And never change it again!!

Then follow the instructions, access the web base configuration utility, you may need to try connect 5ghz with your spark modem several times, but you will connect it eventually.

After that, never unplug the extender again or turn off your modem. Otherwise you will need to setup the 5ghz connection again by access the web base configuration utility from your laptop/computer again
( Please note you cannot access from mobile phone)

This only serves to degrade my network, i have a D-Link router which supports this and i figured it would work without problems, I have it on the end of my house hard-wired into he network so it gets a reliable signal to extend the range. Previously I only used it for 2Ghz because my security camera couldn't support 5Ghz and if you try extend both 2Ghz and 5Ghz this extender is unreliable in the form of slow and spotty network speeds. This supposedly is Wi-Fi 6 but its maximum speed on 5Ghz is 20Mbs.

Just today I had a problem where my phone refused to connect to the network on 5Ghz, I unplugged this extender and it resolved the issue. Why did I buy this?

I found this wifi extender easy to set up with their app and it worked immediately. I eventually had an issue connecting to it when I would walk away from my original router and my phone wouldn't automatically connect to the wifi extender but an easy solution was to just switch off/on my wifi on my phone and it connected to the more powerful connection which was the wifi extender. It has worked perfectly and seamlessly everyday since owing for about a month now. Got it for a good deal which was a bonus. Would recommend to anyone that has weak wifi at one end of their house. This device was super easy to set up. Download the app and it's very straightforward. It needs to have a good strong signal from your router so don't place it too far from your original wifi box. Sometimes my phone doesn't connect to it so I have to restart my phone then it works perfectly. I have full bars right now, where usually I'd only have 1 or 2. I would recommend this product. I have always had patchy wifi in the lounge. added this to my wishlist for ages and finally got it. Now I have super fast wifi in the lounge and all around the house with no interruptions or lagging. wifi 6 too so it uses both 2.5 and 5g. A must have! Had to return the range extender to the retailer as the unit is not compatible with the google mesh router. Incorrect labelling on the box and advice at the shop led me to purchase this item. Brought this to go with my D-Link router, but would not connect stably. Connects better to another router but the distance it works from the router is very short.
