DishTV SmartVu+ 4K UHD Android Streaming TV Box -- Freeview Aerial, Satellite and Live Stream - Chromecast, (Netflix, Youtube, SkySport Now, Disney+, NEON, Prime Video)

Have been using this for a few months now, may just be my unit but it randomly closes apps and live TV when you're using them. Also randomly pauses videos while watching them.

Has a record butting but would have been nice if the locked out recording function was made clear, expensive unit for something that doesn't record.

These Smartvu devices are brilliant - now I'm able to watch all channels including Freeview, Utube and most international News Channels, including CNN, ABC, Reuters and Al Jazeera. Only important one missing is BBC, but rest all good! Easy to install. Runs as advertised. Setting up all the accounts a bit of trouble. Haven't figured out how to cast to this device yet. Fast forward feature a bit clunky. Easy to install. I purchased this product to replace the now-defunct Vodafone TV. This is an awesome device that was easy to set up and has all the streaming apps you will ever need, plus freeview if you have a satellite dish. Would highly recommend. Freeview live works well but I wanted it mainly for TVNZ replay of 6pm News. Youtube etc are all a good bonus. Responsive interface. One button to turn on and off device AND TV. Recommend this smart tv box especially built in chrome cast. Only 1 minor default would be sometimes the volume doesn't sync which then you have to pull power plug to reset the sound. Connection to internet is great no problems with lagging, will look into getting the Uhf/satellite cable . Recommend this smart tv box especially built in chrome cast. Bought this to watch Freeview, and it worked straight out of the box, so easy to set up. Not only can I watch TV directly from my satellite, I can use the Apps to watch On demand, TV 3 and anything on YouTube. Heaps more built in, and so far no problems. Oh love that I can speak to the box to do stuff. It's easier than trying to find the setting in the UI. Would be cool if there were more details on what hardware to use to play games. I looked around for android TV boxes for a while and went for this because:

- certified by Google. A lot of android boxes you get off aliexpress and the like are not certified, meaning some apps don't work properly, most notably Netflix, which apparently boots you down to 480p quality. The price differences to this don't seem that much either if you're after something with satellite.

- reasonably new hardware from what I can tell. The mi box s for example seems to be still running off a chip from 2016.

This replaces both of what I was using before and is a much better experience. The system and ui are quick and responsive, and it will run any media I throw at it with ease across streaming services and files from my home server (I haven't tried 4k on it).

It's not listed on the packaging or specs anywhere but the box also has Bluetooth, which the included remote runs off. This means you can connect other Bluetooth devices like wireless headphones, keyboards, your phone (which can act as a keyboard/mouse through an app).

The only things I can really fault this box on are the power cable, ethernet port and placement of USB ports:

- it uses a dc connector with a cable that could be a bit longer for a TV box, where you might he trying to route through a cabinet. Power through a USB c port would be better too.
- the ethernet port is only 100mbps. It'd be great to see a gigabit port in a next version. I get 100mbps+ speeds on this through WiFi so the port is only really useful if you have patchy WiFi.
- a USB port on the front or side would be better for connecting things to it. With all the ports at the back I risk unplugging the just long enough power cable when using a USB.
- has a record button on the remote but does not actually have that functionality. I wasn't needing this anyway so it wasn't a concern - there are clunky ways to get around it with an included system app.

None of these downsides were that important to me though, so I would highly recommend this box.

I have found this easy to use and it's been a great replacement for the Vodafone tv box. I especially like that you can watch via the internet as we don't have a satellite dish anymore.
