It does what is says. Occasional problems with getting the ethernet and HDMI working but was able to resolve with driver update for computer and the adapter. It does occasionally overheats and stop working. I have maybe 3 from 100 which did that. Overall great product for the 1/3 of price of a docking station. It does what is says. The driver, which needs to be downloaded and installed, is fine on High Sierra, but is faulty on Cataline - writing about 1MB/min (not a typo) to a NAS using Ethernet.

With a USB C power supply (sold separately) as input, I can charge my laptop, plug into the network and run my HDMI monitor all through just one USB C cable plugged into the laptop. Much smaller cheaper and more convenient than a bulky docking station.

Bought this to use with my 2017 MacBook Pro and whilst it reads USBs fine, it's impossible to get a consistent HDMI connection (the main reason I purchased this adapter!). If you're in the same boat as me and need a reliable HDMI connection, I'd recommend getting an HDMI to USB-C cable, and a separate USB Type C to USB adapter.
