Crucial BX500 240GB 2.5" Internal SSD

Have bought 2 of these now and makes a BIG difference swapping out the 5400 spinning rust type disk for friends.
Backup with Veeam Endpoint, swap out disk, insert SSD, restore from Veeam image.
Goes good.

It's amazing how much prices of SSD's continue to fall. I bought this one to put in my 2010 Mac Pro and it's ideal for this. The price was great and the drive was easy to install, format and transfer my OS onto it. If you want more cutting edge performance in your own PC then there are faster drives, but for me this one was exactly what I needed. It's amazing how much prices of SSD's continue to fall. I replaced a 120 gig SSD with this one, just cloning across and rebooting. Everything worked perfectly.

These small and cheap SSD's are great to revive older PC's or laptop that are slowed down by slow conventional hard drives, just make sure there is enough RAM, or upgrade that, too.

Pro: low unit cost per GB storage

Cons: Slow write time; especially when moving large chunk (5GB+) at once. Transfer speed gets down to as low as 20 MB/s (slower than a spinning hard drive with 60-80 MB/s) with burst of 200-300 MB/s.

The write speed profile is in wave form (up and down) throughout the write process. Typical SSD has a fairly flat write profile (no slowdown to 20 MB/s once in a while).

Drive is relatively new (less than a month old) and empty (less than 200GB out of 2TB capacity). From this experience, I will not consider getting another Crucial drive. It is a terrible deal even at the low cost.... Pro: low unit cost per GB storage

The SSD is fine to read and write, but I don’t know why my steam always get crashed while I try to download new games into this SSD. And my other brand of SSD don’t cause any of this problems.
