Microsoft Ergonomic Keyboard

I vastly perfer the Sculpt keyboard in every way, but unfortunately they don't make it in a wired version. This keyboard retains the great MS ergo layout in a fullsize wired keyboard. If that doesn't mean anything to you, I'd suggest considering this review to be a 2/5 and looking elsewhere. If that IS what you're looking for, then go for it. But there are some negatives to consider:
- the keys are a little mushy and have a lot of travel which overall means slower typing and more mistakes
- for some reason the keyboard is thick which makes it tall (this is the main way in which the Scultp is much better)
- it's huge, really FULLsize

- the palmrest is some overly squishy gel material that I don't love
- lol what am I meant to do with a dedicated Office key?

Utlimately, if you can spare the extra change and aren't avoiding a wireless, get the Sculpt keyboard instead. If, like me, this is your only real option then it'll get the job done for pretty cheap.

Lights are on the keys themselves rather than in the middle. Can't see the Caps Lock light if your fingers are on the home keys (f/j)

F5 is a hugely used button on the keyboard compared with F6. Having F5 as the cut off key before the break really increased accuracy.

The new one just seems cheaper for MS to make rather than an improvement.

Buy an older Ergo 4000 if you can find one.

Brought this to replace an older ergonomic 4000 keyboard. It is slightly different in layout and keys are slightly closer together and narrower and it is really easy to inadvertently hit the Caps Lock. It is quieter but I do miss the extra keys at the top of the old keyboard. Still wonderful to type on and I will never go back to an ordinary keyboard. After reading online reviews that said it was better to stick to the Microsoft 4000 Ergonomic keyboard I was a bit unsure about getting this one after my 4000 model died, but I’m so glad I did! It took me about a week to get completely used to it as the profile/feel of the keys is a little different but it is SO comfortable and SO much quieter, I really love it! I don’t use it with the front bumper thing that you’re supposed to attach to the bottom to raise the front up. The keys feel just a little stiffer and they've moved numlock from the top of the numeric keypad which is going to require retraining my fingers. This keyboard works as expected, without any issues - and was great to use following a wrist injury when I couldn't move my wrist around much. Will keep using it going forwards.
