I purchased three of these drives, two for friends and one for myself. After a year of intermittent use for media playback on a smart TV, my drive went into write-protected read-only mode. I worked through all the possible methods to remove the write protection in Windows without success, which indicates that the drive is experiencing a flash storage failure and has engaged a firmware lock to prevent any new writes.

In the end I suppose it either didn't enjoy the heat from the sustained reads playing back media, or I just lost the silicon lottery with my drive's Flash memory chip. For the per-unit price it's not a big deal, and I was able to pull all my data off the drive without issue. I'd just call it an overall poor experience, considering I have much older drives which haven't failed on me yet. Although the warranty is only 12 months, any reasonable buyer would expect it to last longer. If it were a more expensive item I'd be inclined to go full Karen mode and invoke the CGA clause concerning durability for a reasonable amount of time. As it is, I'll likely just buy a replacement.

The product tagline "Kingston Flash Drive: Pocket-sized powerhouse for your portable storage needs!" is an absolute joke. I thought surely these would be ok because they are a "good brand", but their performance sucks. My Sandisk USB drive, similar price gets 136MB/62MB read/write per second (sequential), this piece of junk only manages 98MB/8MB read/write. You read that right, 8 measly megabytes a second write. To copy 128GB onto this drive would take nearly 5 hours. I bought 7 of these, hopefully I can refund the 5 I hadn't opened yet and exchange for something not so useless.

My title says it all, I mainly bought the USB for storage rather than speed so it didn't affect me too much. But jf you always buying the USB for transfer speeds then I would look somewhere else. Does what is is supposed to and is within my price range for such a device. It is noticeably faster than USB 2 and I can store a lot more on one stick for versatile mobility. Bought this because it’s listed as usb 3.2. Writes data at speed like it’s usb 2.0.

Storage is ideal. But it essentially caps out at around 12mb/s. It would be good for travel storage, but don't expect any meaningful performance if you're working with a large amount of files or larger ones. Storage is ideal.
