Playmax Streamcast USB Condenser Microphone

This USB condenser mic uses the generic Windows mic driver, which means that it requires the Microphone Boost feature in order to work. However, the generic Windows 10 mic driver does not support this feature for USB-driven devices. As a result, even with all levels set to 100, this mic will barely record at a quiet whisper even if you scream directly into it. Frankly I have no idea how anyone has managed to use it successfully - it literally cannot possibly work with the generic driver, and Playmax does not provide a custom one. I can only assume everyone has been using it on something other than Windows 10. This product works fine BUT you must have a mic boom/arm to raise it off the desk, otherwise it picks up keyboard sounds way too easily. Other than that it does work quite well for the price. I have bought many things from PB Tech over the years, and this is the first time I have had any issue. Given the price point, I wasn't expecting a great microphone, but even so I was very disappointed. To start with, I think the build quality of the unit itself is great. It is sturdy, and seems to be capable of taking the general knocks of life quite well. With no manufacturer software to adjust this mic, it is basically unusable. I will be returning this product.

This is a good mic but voice quality is better when talking on the front part instead of the top. The balance is not that good because I have to keep the mic on a 90⁰ angle. Overall if you are looking for a decent quality mic and is on a tight budget, get this when it is on sale. I was weighing up between purchasing a well known brand, versus this product purely because it was cheaper. I didn't need anything too fancy. Just something I can record with. I also didn't want to waste money on a cheaper product. I was pleasantly surprised. The sound is clear (enough for me at least) and doesn't pick up the traffic outside my window (like the webcam microphone and laptop microphone did). I use this microphone for zoom meetings as well.
