HP ProBook 450 G9 15.6" FHD Business Laptop

Have owned this laptop for 2 weeks after PBTech recommended it as they could not source the HP Probook 650 that I originally ordered.

This laptop does not come with an AC power brick adapter (it does have the port, just nothing to plug into it) instead it comes with a USB type C adapter for laptop power. There is only one type C port so you cannot power the laptop and use the type C port to plug in an external device (like a second external monitor) To use the USB type C port for something other than power you have to purchase an additional AC power brick or you will be constantly unplugging the external device to charge the laptop. I will admit that this is more of an HP issue with their race to the bottom by deleting the AC adapter, but PBTech should bear some responsibility for recommending a laptop that was not comparable to what I originally ordered.

Specs for Probook 450 G9 Business are good, but let down by a very mediocre webcam. It is possible it was faulty but when compared side-by-side with a 10 year old ProBook 4740s, the new laptop showed a very poor image, and the old ProBook looked sharp in comparison.
We returned it thinking it was faulty but the technician said that they were all like that now because of the thin frame. In that state it was not viable to use for business conference calls using zoom or teams so it had to be returned - which was a bit more of a drama than it should have been, especially as it was within 24 hours of purchase.

If you dont want to use the webcam for business, then its a good middle of the road laptop with plenty of performance and a nice screen.

My first laptop after having a home PC forever. Was a bit worried about getting everything transferred over and all my settings but Microsoft did it all for me. This is a great laptop for school which is what I needed it for. However the first day I had it it was running extremely slow and a preinstalled HP antivirus was straight up corrupting my downloads or not downloading every file because it thought it was malware. This corrupted my windows as a whole and I was able to fix it because I'm pretty tech savvy the average Joe may have no clue how to solve the startup issues if it becomes a problem. This is a great laptop for school which is what I needed it for. However the first day I had it it was running extremely slow and a preinstalled HP antivirus was straight up corrupting my downloads or not downloading every file because it thought it was malware. This corrupted my windows as a whole and I was able to fix it because I'm pretty tech savvy the average Joe may have no clue how to solve the startup issues if it becomes a problem.

Performance seems fast but fan is noisy. Battery is not that great, shows 6 hours when you unplug the power source.

My last computer was a 4th GEN tower also from PBTech. It last over 8yrs until it started slowing down and eventually stopping the WiFi working properly. One Drive was slow as & Google sometimes took ages to connect.
Hence upgraded to this little beauty. Does everything as I want and more. Bonus is the speed in which my apps work now. No issues with OneDrive any more. Also bought a hub, stand, cables, new keyboard, etc. and now I have a nice unit the will last for quite a few years. Roll on GEN20!! Found out that you need to have a powerbank with high amp output on the USB. Sometimes referred to as USB-c PD.I bought the Cygnet ChargeUp Pro and this changes the laptop fine. The built in Ethernet connector is a little hard to get Ethernet plug into, but at least it has a built in one.
