HP adapter had gone intermittent, supplying insufficient juice to trigger the battery charging circuit. But sometimes it worked, if I crossed my fingers and toes. Thought it was a socket problem at first but wrong symptoms in the diagnostics. Only 18 months old. Grrr. After one too many embarrassments, trying to run long sessions with clients and having juice drop out, it's for the high jump. So much for its 150W rating!

Checked catalog online and found the right one for my machine. Local store shows one in stock. Walked to nearest PB Tech store. Chose phone case and extra SD card. Helpful Drew looks at my printout. "Not where it should be in stock, but let me check something." A few minutes later, he came back and said, "Just as well I looked - right size in capacity, wrong size in plug. Maybe a mistake in our matching database. Shall I get one in for you?" Thank you for that - worth waiting another few days for the right one.

In service every day since, and hasn't missed a beat, yet. We'll see if it's still running in a year. I'm told an original adapter should last the lifetime of the machine, but maybe that's wishful thinking.
