Every router I've ever used has been a straight forward set up, but this one was a bit tricky.
The Quick Setup Wizard didn't work at all at first. Got me into Router Settings, but no internet and no wireless access. WAP light was red, even after multiple restarts etc.

The solution was to download the latest firmware update off the ASUS website on my phone using mobile data. Transferred that to my PC, and then sent the firmware update to the router through the Router Settings page.
Rebooted the router again and finally got some internet!

My old Asus DSL AC68U was reliable to cover only a third of my small house. It had difficulty in reaching the third room, but when I replaced it with the Asus RT AX3000, my WiFi coverage expanded twice and the data transfer, thrice. Although there seems to have a compatibility problem in using the old one as Node for AiMesh, its extender's function did the trick. The AX3000 worked as an AiMesh node to DSL AC68U, but not vice versa. In saying so, I haven't tried to use AX3000 independently, but with my current setup, I'm certain my WiFi blankets even my neighbours' area, so I'm stoked! Upgraded my router from 5yo D-Link one which we faced disconnection and halt of wifi signal often lately. The number of devices connected (15 wifi + 5 wired) might have overwhelmed my old router. After changing to this one, all the crappiness went away. Being working for 2wks without any interruption. Speed test using cell phone shows just as fast as wired PC (nearly reaching internet service of 200Mbps max). Set up was easy, UI is great, monitoring and controlling using a mobile app is superb. Was just what I was after excellent t advice in store - was a little complex (with little instruction) to get online with my ISP but we got there in the end. Purchased to replace the stock router from Vodafone, which to be honest was ok for my house but this is faster and looks the business with the aerials. The various flashing lights (all white and small) are certainly less intrusive at night. Resonably easy setup - as stated in other reviews, after you've set up the network SSID's, just remember to folllow the instructions on the Youtube video which covers the final step for Vodafone and Spark customers separately - a 2 minute job, then hey presto. Was super easy to configure as part of an AI Mesh with a Rt-AX88u. Just sits there quietly working, day in, day out. Getting great throughput through the network, right round the entire house.
