Got this a few days ago. Makes a big difference compare to my Vodafone Ultra Hub which can only handle a few devices and weak wifi signal. Now my wifi can reach several houses away and can handle plenty of devices (wireless and wired). I use ethernet backhaul for assured signaling between XT8 unit, one in the ground floor and the other on second floor. Many features as well like, I can have 9 guests separate ssid and have 3 wifi network system. Basic configuration easy to set up via bluetooth. Webgui harder to set up but necessary for other configurations. Default IP 192.168.50.1.

Each unit can run as a router, wired access point or wireless node.

Don't seem to be able to buy a single unit to expand the mesh. Apart from the main unit additional units have surplus router and other functionality that you have paid for but do not need.

I purchased this system to upgrade to WiFi 6 in a large 2 storey home. I previously had an Orbi wifi 5 mesh system which was good but this system has been far more reliable, faster and the coverage is phenomenal. Highly recommended. I have been waiting for this to be released in NZ for months... I have read mixed reviews online (Everyone agrees it is fast, but some people have issues with reliability). I have only had it running for a day, so I can't tell you how reliable it is. But the speeds and reach are very very impressive. I previously had an AMplifi HD Mesh system, which did reach over most of the house (300sqm), but the speeds on the outer parts were not that great. This XT8 is blazing fast, just about everywhere.... I have a long house with a home office some way and through walls from the fibre ONT. On a basic 300Mbps Spark plan. I am getting 270, 290, even 310Mbps at my desk. Outstanding. I bought these as opposed to the less expensive XD6 models as they are supposedly better in a mesh system with no wired backhaul. No complaints at all now they're up and running.
One thing for Slingshot customers though, although PBTech provide online setup guides for other ISPs and including settings that may not be obviously available from your provider, there was none for these and Slingshot. Probably added about 5-10 minutes in setup time for me but definitely not a deal killer. I like the Asus interface and app which makes running the system a breeze also. Would buy again. Overall works well, getting 500-600 next to the router and 300 from the node downstairs (I'm on ultrafibre plan).
The price is a bit expensive as you would expect from a mesh router.

Really easy install and works perfectly. Good string signal and phone app works really well making set up an absolute breeze. Setting up as ai mesh was easy and I'm no longer getting queries from the family as to which WiFi they need to connect to. The units are not small so it's like having a router in your room.
