TP-Link Archer AX1500 Dual-Band Wi-Fi 6 Gigabit Router

I cannot rule out factors outside the router's control that may have influenced its performance, but this was my experience with it.

At first when I bought this, according to the specifications and coverage listed, it seemed suitable for our three-bedroom house that is roughly 120m2, so not a big house. At first this router was performing well and had no problems with it, though I later learned it was not reaching the end bedroom of the house - possibly an issue due to the placement of the router as it was at one end of the house and the bedroom at the other end, but the website lists it as up to 150m2. Not long after using it, we were getting irregular packet loss, packet burst, and latency variation when gaming - despite having full signal between the router and two consoles - and this was still the case after placing the router centrally in the house in an effort to achieve better coverage for other devices. We are with Skinny for fibre broadband, so not sure if it's an issue on their end, but I wouldn't have thought so. We have an Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 which were both experiencing connectivity issues, even when not online simultaneously. There aren't many devices, or bandwidth-intensive ones, in the household, so not sure why these issues were present. I also tried factory resetting the router, changing various settings, and troubleshooting online as to what the problem could be.

It seems to have stabilised now, but I have lost confidence in this router. Perhaps I am an outlier with my experience, but this router was not adequate for my needs.

Good product. Super easy to setup and configure for NZ broadband. And the accompanying app is great. Lots of features (that you can but don’t have to configure).
Only reason not to give max stars is as alway…..the price. It can always be cheaper.

Upgraded to this from our old Asus, this was a breeze to install (much better mounting options) and their app is pretty intuitive.

After killing my last router and speaking to 2 degrees about a replacement - which was going to cost me a lot more ($199 for latest model or $5 per month). This was a good option. Easy to install with my very limited knowledge and the information supplied by 2 degrees. Seems to be working well. I stream all by TV and work from home regularly without issue. I needed a quick upgrade from my old AC router, and this came up as the cheapest AX model. A couple of months in. I get noticeably more range and no longer need an extender. The UI is easy to use.
