Apple Mac Mini with M1 Chip - Silver

For the price point the Mac mini makes a fantastic Plex media server which is now made even better with the new Apple M1 (ARM) processor. These are fast!
It is however a shame that you cannot upgrade the memory as you could with previous models so make sure that you buy a model with enough memory to suit your needs now and for the next few years.
The latest version of MacOS (BigSur) is fantastic and as always Apple support is on-point, although as expected during a global pandemic it can take a little longer than usual for responses. (as is the case when dealing with most support centres in organisations that are based overseas). I did purchase a SATECHI USB-C Stand Hub for M1 Mac Mini With M2. SSD Enclosure - Silver to go with it allowing me to plug in a few extra peripherals! If you're just going to use this for web browsing, consuming media, creating documents, etc it's unlikely you will hear the fan at all.
Booting, opening apps, etc are insanely quick.

I find the MAC mini an excellent device in both build quality in amazing price. What I find unique and really cool about the current Mac mini desktop model is its total solid state design and engineering. No fan noise, no hard drive clicking, it just sleeps and wakes up whenever you need it to at very fast speed. It is fast, it works error free, reboots quickly, and updates itself for security patches and OS updates exactly as MAC OS's have done for a decade or more. Simplicity, price, performance, quality, and surprising efficiency for such a durable and elegant computer many would like at home and at work. Our IT savvy son recommended it. All i can say it's like my iPhone but better, way better and I don't even use the half of it. So if your from pre-historic times like us its a God send.. you will love it and it does way more than you think.

The unit itself gives me the flexibility of adding more at less price than the iMac all in one and at less overall cost.
Being used to windows( negative) and android it is a bit of a learning curve but tutorials abound and so far it is a good intro the the Mac OS.

It is much quieter and cooler when making zoom calls.
Also, it is much snappier than its Intel counterpart.
