Furniture rearrangements meant the machine with all the media on (and no built-in bluetooth) was nowhere near the sound system any more.

Exactly as hoped. Plug and play, windows automatically sorts the drivers and works off the bat. Range is pretty good and the 5.0 functionality is a bonus. Didn't have to dig through the website to find the drivers but didn't look overly straight forward from a brief look. Exactly as hoped. I bought this hoping it would reach from my PC to my bed for my Bluetooth mouse and headphones, but unfortunately it didn't cut it for the headphones. If you're within 2-3 meters of the dongle you should be fine, but any further than that and you will have connection issues. I kind of expected this would be the case which is why I'm not giving it a lower star rating.

I replaced it with a dedicated Wifi/Bluetooth card that has it's own antenna. I bought this hoping it would reach from my PC to my bed for my Bluetooth mouse and headphones, but unfortunately it didn't cut it for the headphones.
