What can I say. Absolutely pathetic. It lasted for 2 uses and broke. Would never purchase again and highly recommend no-one else does either. $ down the drain at an expensive time of the year. The adapter allows any accessory with a USB-C male connector to plug in to a conventional USB-A socket, such as one of the inputs to a USB hub. I use mine to connect another, larger USB hub to one of the inputs to a J5Create hub that has 3 USB-A sockets, thereby allowing a "daisy-chain" of the two hubs, while occupying only one of the MacBook Pro's 3 USB-C connectors. We bought this for our daughter Macbook Air because it doesn't have a USB port and this thing is freaking awesome. The price is nothing to complain about either. I have a Microsoft Surface with two type C ports and a whole load of USB memory sticks and peripherals. When I bought the Surface, I also bought a hub with HDMI and Type A ports but that's a bit of a pain to disconnect when it flops around off the side of the Surface when being carried.
This little adapter is great for those times and provides the connectivity I need when working away from my desk. It dos stick out a little so be careful not to knock it but its a whole load easier than the Hub.
