Docking one star because I had to buy a cable to determine its wiring, it's nicely constructed and seems good quality.

In USB 2, A-plug to A-plug cables like this one were specifically prohibited, but the USB 3 spec (good bedtime reading material: USB 3.1 Legacy Cable and Connector Specification, 5.5.2) does describe a way to wire them with the VBUS (power) and D+/D- (not-superspeed data) not connected. However obviously they do have some practical uses with power and data connected through. This cable connects VBUS straight through, so it works for situations where one end is plugged in to a normal USB A receptacle on a computer/hub/etc and the other is a USB A receptacle on a device that needs to be powered by the cable.
