StarTech are not the cheapest, but somehow their (dull!) marketing and (thoughtful!) little product details give the impression that the engineers are in charge at StarTech, not the bean counters.

It gives me peace of mind, I guess. You wouldn't think there could be much to go wrong with a cable, so you might as well get the cheapest. I thought that once.

Now, I think that being able to rely on my displays working when I need them is worth the price difference.
