Uniden R8NZ Extreme Long Range Radar / Laser Detector w/GPS Alarms

Cops are sneaky, they have their radar on standby and speed check vehicles coming towards them, then go back to standby. If there are no cars in front of you, they may check your speed when they are right in front of you and you won't have time to react.

That saying, heading towards Ashburton, the detector was going on and off for 8.8km before I seen the cop with it's lights on about to tax some poor bugger while leaving real criminals alone. But after I went past them, the detector was still going of to the rear for another 2.8km before I went around a corner.

I had an old Valentine radar before this purchase. Used to go off all the time(k band) especially with false alerts: automatic doors, modern car safety radar systems etc...
The Uniden R8 cuts alot of the false signals out and you can mute other false signals by pressing Mute. It is also GPS and has a great database with warnings updated by the community etc.

After using Valentine’s for 30 years, I thought I’d try the R8. What an absolutely amazing piece of equipment with such accuracy and precision. I’ve got 3 vehicles and just purchased my 3rd Uniden R8 thanks to PBTechs exceptional customer service and the very best prices. Never did I think I’d stop using my Valentines but the R8 has really changed my thinking. It’s long range detection is just outstanding. Highly Recommend in every way. Went online to look for the top radar and the R8 was apparently the go to. So i looked up cheapest place to purchase near me and PB Tech was the go. I purchased with ease from the team had some laughs at the counter with the employees (one was scared of spiders the other had to kill it) which created a vibrant atmosphere. 🤙🏽
I installed the R8 in my vehicle and works as good as they say no problems at all and even warns me if i accidentally go over 110 which i would never do 😏.

Used this for about 6 month now, it is a good detector and ive had little to no false alerts from it but:
it is bulky and the features it offers over the r4 like directional arrows rearly comes in handy. Also the fact its for a lefthand drive while yes you can still see the screen without to much issue it is still annoying. Surely the market in Australia and the UK is big enough for them to make a righthand drive model, especially for something that you're paying top dollar for.

Conclusion go with the R4 Used this for about 6 month now, it is a good detector and ive had little to no false alerts from it but:

Excellent system and already fully updated out of the box. Q-ride, band filtering is already altered for New Zealand's city and highway - reducing false alerts. Top of the line filtering for bands to further reduce false alerts from collision detection, blind spot detection on newer vehicles. Looks amazing as well. Could not be more impressed by the overall produce, especially the build quality, responsiveness and the range. Bought it on Boxing Day Sale, and what a great price!

Did a trip from Wellington and Auckland and it was perfect. Gave me so much range and time even around corners to adjust my speed. The only downside is when cops dont have their speed detectors on, the radar detector doesn't have anything to detect but due to that they cant really pull you over for anything. Still have to keep an eye out but it definitely gave me a lot of reassurance on the road Did a trip from Wellington and Auckland and it was perfect.
