Building in the 500 DX/FX case can be problematic when it comes to the SSD bracket.

Tip - to sync your GPU RGB with the case press and hold the reset button for 3 seconds. This should sync the FX RGB with say, Aura sync.

You have options when it comes to the use, or not, of the SSD plate but please be aware that routing fat 24 pin power cables and certain GPU cables through the narrow gap while using the SSD bracket can be impossible - although you could remove the be quiet! panel and SSD bracket entirely - I got out the grinder and removed the troublesome return edge on the SSD bracket and tidied it up with sand paper and paint. Look, even some online reviews state, '...you might need to remove the logo bracket or even all the SSD brackets.'

That 'might' may well be YOU WILL HAVE TO.

I have a Corsair HX1200 PSU and the 24-pin cable would not fit through - let alone in conjunction with 3x 8-pin GPU cables. I cannot afford to force things to the point of snapping.

So pay attention to your build; especially if you have fat power and GPU cables - not to mention motherboards with right angle 24-pin power.

The 500 DX/FX is a small case when it come to cable behind the motherboard tray - in terms of space between the back panel and any space available in the basement. Another 10mm's of grace behind the back panel would be welcome.

So tidy, compact builds are fine in this case.

One good point is the placement of the HDD cage - mine houses 2x 10TB HDD's. The HDD cage is far enough forward as to allow some fat power cables to still be shoved back in front of the PSU even with the large HX1200 PSU.

It's a classy case (in black) and well-built. On sale it's worth trying for an attractive build to be placed on your desk top.

Overall a good choice but not as easy to build in as the TD500 Mesh V2.

Why did I buy this case? Mainly cost and the fact that I like the LEDs (when on orange). I have a few others at home using other cases that were easier to work with, but IMHO this one better valued.
Would I buy this case again? Yes - because I would encounter similar issues with all other cases with this many fans and an older motherboard (think DDR3 era i7). And to be honest this case is in a location which is quite public - and I wanted it to look nice.

If you do the math, this case is about $40 ish dollars if you're gonna buy some rgb lights anyways. So if you're looking for a case plus rgb fans it's great.
The rgb is hooked to the cases' controller if your motherboard doesn't have an argb header, and that can give you some limited but enough customization to the lights.
