Cruxtec NVMe & NGFF Dual Protocol M.2 SSD to USB-C Enclosure - Aluminum

What a nightmare!

Tried 3 different M.2 NVME SSDs with multiple cables and interfaces (USB A, USB C, 3.0, 3.2) in this enclosure after instability in the first drive and very slow speeds.
Drives are recognized and play content, but constant freezing, enclosure very hot and will not transfer above 40MB/s.

Tried the same drives in another of my enclosures, and another Unitek 3.2 enclosure using exactly the same interface and cables and was able to hit above 1GB/s on both with no issues.
RTL9210 or ASM2362 based enclosures seem fine, but I wasn't aware of the issues with JMS581D based controllers (lots of reported issues) What a nightmare!

Used this to mirror my current boot volume (256GB M.2 SSD) onto a new 1TB M.2. Samsung Magic did it seamlessly. All I had to do was shutdown and physically swap the drives over. Needed to image my laptop drive in a hurry, and this was cheaper than buying a pre-assembled unit. Loaded it with a WD Blue 2TB card (shown in pic but purchased separately).

Pros:
- True tool-free design.
- Compact, although it is bigger than an old USB stick.
- Seems fast enough.
- USB-C/B to USB-C adapter is a welcome extra.

Cons:
- Gets hot during extensive write sessions, but it handled it no problem.
- Sparse instructions.

P.S. This has a JMicron controller that works well with my Lenovo and the WD card. My last enclosure from a different brand was unreliable. Apparently the chips in these things vary quite a lot. Bought it for a spare gen4 nvme drive I had lying around to make it useful and the casing works really well, speeds are amazing the USB-C/A converter cable makes it so can use on any device. Well worth the purchase. I have this on hand for the odd bit of drive access work. Very simple and works with a range of SSD types. Meets my needs very nicely for a good price point.
