A fantastic air cooler that supports AM5 out of the box without a conversion kit. The steps to install are pretty simple. It’s just lining up the screws is tricky considering you have to screw down the middle of the cooler given it’s sheer size. It at least comes with a very long screw driver.

It’s a chonky boy however it’s actually a few mm shorter than a lot of other air coolers. Meaning it can fit in more cases. Its heat pipes are angled in such a way where it allows a lot of space for RAM. I got low profile RAM but I could easily have RAM triple the height. I got an older style case with side fan mounts and I can even fit a 140mm fan on the side without it touching the cooler. It’s just the perfect size.

In terms of cooling it’s keeping my Ryzen 7600x idling at 35-38 degrees and never exceeding 70 under load when running things such as Star citizen or Darktide. That is with 2 fans mounted on the cooler. With the thermal paste it came with.

However. If you are planning to get this to cool an AM5 CPU specifically. Make sure your motherboard has a backplate pre installed. Most AM5 motherboards do but not all of them do. It’s far too heavy to be used without a backplate and it won’t fit the AM4/Intel one that comes with the cooler. AM4 and intel LGA users don’t need worry.

Peak Temps on my i7 were reaching 100C with the stock cooler. With this cooler, Temps are down to 70C even when stressed at 100% CPU usage. Upgraded from the original Intel FAN which thermal throttled my i5-12400F majorly (inside MATX case)

Now sitting at 20-25c idle / 40-50C Max during load - barely makes a sound and overall great purchase for the price. As expected big FPS increase.

Previously used an EKWB 280mm AiO and when that failed I bought this thinking it would just be temporary.

Very good at cooling 7800X3D for me, but be mindful that it's very tall, so it's not possible to make a sleeper from old computer cases. You need a wide case to accommodate this monster. My BeQuiet AIO water pump failed after 3years of use, so I purchased the AK500 to replace it, I was pleasantly surprised, my CPU is Ryzen 5 5600X, on the Bequiet AIO idle temp was 33C and underload would reach 65C.
This AK500 Aircooler i am able to get 28C idle and 55C under load, the AK500 fan noise is only slightly louder than the Bequiet AIO most probably due to the FAN on the heat sink.
Its pretty good value to get good cooling performance similar to a AIO.

I'm sure you can get better cooling with a liquid system. But this one was easy to install and is amazing what it does. I'm cooling an R7 9700x and temperatures are around 70 under heavy load (helps that is being chilly in Dunedin, and maybe it could get higher unde prolonged multicore load, but not sure). Noise is low. I totally recommend this one instead of going for liquid cooling. My setup is 2 front fans, and one in the back, and it is very quiet system and temperatures are looking good.
