I use this for transfers of backups to Time Machine on a machine. Good Value if you are using for this use! As my music is ever growing with lossless audio and now 24 bit High Res audio, my need to get a bigger hard drive was becoming desperate. As always I keep an eye out on price spy for any sale prices. I was happy to see that PB Tech (once again) was having a sale and was cheapest by a country mile. I also like the fact that when I rang the Petone branch they helpfully informed me that even though they were out of stock, I could still make a purchase before the sale ended and pick them up from the store when they had more stock after the sale had ended. Now that is cool! Really cool!

I have always used Seagate HDs as they are durable and easy to use. Mind you I did reformat the drive from exFat to NFTS as the latter has a faster read speed. If I were to use another it would be western digital. Mind you I will have to eventually upgrade to a higher size and 5TB is the highest in the portable Expansion range, so a plug in desktop hard drive it will have to be! In my opinion that would be the only con on these drives that it only goes to 5TB and sometimes they get over heated (like any hard drive) when used for long periods of time. A cool hack I came up with is use a small desk fan to cool it down or leave on a window ledge during winter. I have used Seagate Hard Drives for over 10 years.

The online purchase was secure as I got a authorization code SMS from my bank which was an extra piece of mind for novice online shoppers such as myself. Since it was click and collect I nominated the Petone Branch. I was warmly greeted by the security guard at the entrance which was a nice touch to the overall shopping experience at PB Tech.
