Portable Drive for MacBook Time Machine Backups

I wanted a large capacity, small footprint, portable USB drive to travel in my laptop bag with me for periodic Time Machine backups of my MacBook. I'm happy, it's doing the job well.

WD 4GB Portable Storage Drive

Storage Size: 4TB

Was sick and tired of scratching around for a drive with enough storage so had a look around and found my favourite in a nice big 4GB drive. Not a fan of the very short cable it comes with - WD could've sprung for a little more cable to make it more user friendly, but I'm enjoying the extra storage. Have bought WD for a long time now and not been disappointed. This is a good buy.

Good product!

Well worth the money. Had this for about a month - no problems. Good bang for your buck. Had to refigure for a Mac, just followed the online instructs, no probs there either. Highly recommended.

Some issues on MacOS

Storage Size: 4TB

If I plug this drive directly into my Macbook Pro USB3 connector, the drive will suddenly disconnect for no reason - can be an issue while running lengthy backups.

I found a work around - connect the drive to a USB3 hub and then plug the hub into the Macbook Pro

If NTFS formatted I recommend using NTFS for Mac to unmount the drive

Shipping Security & Insurance

All orders shipped by PB Tech are sent via a courier with a signature required for each delivery. In some cases, and only where you have given the courier company permission to leave orders at a designated location, your order may be delivered without requiring a signature. All orders sent by PB Tech are fully insured in the unlikely event that your item(s) are damaged or go missing in transit.

7 day right of exchange

If you change your mind after making a purchase, or realise you have ordered the incorrect item, you can enjoy the peace of mind that we offer a 7 day exchange policy.

To exchange a product, goods must be sealed / unopened, with packaging in original condition, and accompanied by a valid receipt dated no more than 7 calendar days from when you request an exchange.

If there is not a suitable product that can be exchanged for your returned item you will be offered a credit on your account or gift card based on the value paid at the time of purchase.
