MSI Pro MP273A 27" FHD 100Hz Business Monitor

I work from home and bought 2 of these monitors as an upgrade from my old 23" monitors. I was going to go for the 24.5" thinking 27" would be too big but I'm glad I didn't as these are the perfect size. They are good quality and both were easily set up within 20 mins of receiving them. I bought two of this monitor for my WFH set up. They're decent although I'm not very tech savvy so there isn't anything that I can see spec wise that would be something to note. I actually returned it thinking it was faulty. Turns out it’s just a terrible resolution. It also isn’t height adjustable. My bad for not checking. I was in a bit of a huff when purchasing because I’d lost the power cord to my previous MSI screen and was told it can’t be replaced!!! So I was having to buy a whole new monitor.
If you’re not fussed on resolution there are way cheaper options. I actually returned it thinking it was faulty. Turns out it’s just a terrible resolution. It also isn’t height adjustable. The Major Problems

1. USB-C / DisplayPort Alt Mode Is a Disaster

Complete failure to detect signals over USB-C adapters or docking stations

Tested with several devices including Belkin Thunderbolt dock and Cruxtec USB-C adapter

Same adapters work flawlessly with Dell monitors, confirming the problem is specific to MSI

Makes the monitors unusable for any modern laptop setup relying on USB-C connectivity

2. Abysmal Quality Control

25% failure rate out of the box — 1 out of 4 units had screen defects from day one

Completely unacceptable for a product marketed as “professional”

Reflects nonexistent QA standards at MSI

3. Deceptive Marketing

Promoted as offering “multiple input sources” — DisplayPort barely functions

Marketed for “work and home” — incompatible with modern workstations

This is straight-up false advertising. These are not fit for professional use in 2025

The Financial Damage

Here’s what these “budget” monitors actually cost me:

4x MSI Monitors: ~$800

Belkin Thunderbolt Dock (incompatible): $139

Assorted USB-C adapters/cables: $100+

Time wasted troubleshooting: countless hours

Total actual cost: Over $1,000 for monitors that barely work

What (Barely) Works

Direct HDMI from older desktop machines — and even that’s not always reliable

What Fails Completely

Modern connectivity (USB-C, Thunderbolt, DisplayPort Alt Mode)

Signal detection — often needs unplugging for 15+ minutes just to reset

Auto input switching — doesn’t work at all

Build quality — 1 in 4 was DOA

Professional use — completely unfit for any business environment

My Recommendation: RUN AWAY

DO NOT BUY THESE MONITORS. These aren’t just poor-quality displays — they’re fatally flawed products that will drain your time, money, and patience.

Do yourself a favor:

Get a Dell, ASUS, or LG monitor instead

They may cost more initially but actually work with modern devices

You won’t be wasting extra money on adapters, docks, or replacements

Final Warning

MSI has clearly cut every possible corner here. The connectivity failures are not minor — they make the product unusable for its advertised purpose.

This is false advertising. A “professional business monitor” in 2025 that can’t support USB-C laptops isn’t professional — it’s e-waste.

I’m seriously considering returning all 4 units despite having used them for weeks — that’s how defective they are.

AVOID MSI MONITORS AT ALL COSTS.

Purchased: 4 units, 1 DOA

Total money wasted on workarounds: $300+

Hours of troubleshooting: Too many to count

The MSI PRO was recommended to me by PB Staff for its quality of its IPS panel compared to other brands.
The monitor itself is excellent and was easy to set up, essentially a plug-and-play device for business use and I highly recommend the device for those needing a bigger budget monitor for business

Cons:
- MSI still doesn't include a DisplayPort cable in the box, so plan for a DisplayPort cable if you are going to buy than one monitor (especially for 100hz).
- The monitor buttons seem cheaply designed, I would have liked the see the stick button design seen on other monitors like LG and Samsung.

Overall great budget business monitor, but don't expect older mid-tier MSI panel quality.
