So you pay more for a smaller phone with a 'just OK' camera.
It is waterproof and chunky,easy to hold, which is nice.
Battery life is mediocre out of the box but remove and disable the more useless samsung and google apps and all of a sudden it will last 2 days.
The unexpected bonus is the best cellular and GPS performance by far of all the phones I've had (lots!).
This thing gets 2 bars when others get none and can make LTE voice calls when others can only txt. The GPS works indoors and under tree cover. Those two things are worth the price to me. So you pay more for a smaller phone with a 'just OK' camera.

Seems to be a tough lil bugger, im a concrete cutter, dust water slurry all over it... i drop it all the time, seems to be handling it well... but get a screen protector. All our workers are equipped with one, and it's been excellent rolling out our digital system. It's not flashy or superbly fast, which is great since it keeps them off their phones. And best of all they're tough SOB's, already had multiple incidents of drops onsite, some from even 15m up with only superficial damage. Well worth it! I'm not one for flagship phones. I think smartphones have basically peaked. What most lack is protection from my clumsy hands. My last phone lasted 6 months before I dropped it taking a picture of Santa in the Christmas parade. Santa bought me this phone and it seems solid, and is absolutely fine at taking pictures and generally doing phoney things, smart or otherwise. I drowned my last phone so was drawn to the promoted waterproof aspects, also the ruggedness of the phone. It is always a pain to change from one phone to another especially if you drop it in water which kills some important features eg you loose all your contacts so waterproof features help save many frustrations. I found the Samsung stand at Riccarton mall very helpful in the change over. Other aspects of the phone are proving very good. I have only had the phone for a couple of weeks, but have not found too many weaknesses in that time.

Its a great phone for durability so far, nice and tough, well designed cover. But as with the previous version, the typing/keypad on screen is very glitchy and not accurate which is a tad frustrating. I’ve had the X-Cover for two weeks and it does everything I need it to do. I thought it was going to be too bulky, but it’s not. Don't get too excited by the Rugged tag, folks. For all Samsung's promo material, the case cracked on a drop of around 1m after about 8 months and the repair was deemed outside warranty.
