The Raspberry Pi M.2 HAT+ enables you to connect M.2 peripherals such as NVMe drives and AI accelerators to Raspberry Pi 5's PCIe 2.0 interface, supporting fast (up to 500 MB/s) data transfer to and from NVMe drives and other PCIe accessories.

Overview

Raspberry Pi 5's single-lane PCI Express 2.0 interface is exposed on a 16-pin, 0.5mm- pitch FPC connector; the M.2 HAT+ M Key is a mechanical adapter board that converts between this connector and a subset of the M.2 standard. It supports devices that have the M.2 M key edge connector, in the 2230 and 2242 form factors. It is capable of supplying up to 3A to connected M.2 devices.

The Raspberry Pi M.2 HAT+ conforms to the Raspberry Pi HAT+ specification and is autodetected by the latest Raspberry Pi software/firmware. It is supplied with a 16mm stacking header and threaded spacers, so it can be fitted to a Raspberry Pi 5 with the Raspberry Pi Active Cooler in place.

- Supports a single-lane PCIe 2.0 interface with a maximum transfer rate of 500 MB/s.
- Compatible with M.2 M Key edge connector devices.
- Suitable for devices in 2230 and 2242 form factors.
- Provides up to 3A of power to connected M.2 devices.
- Includes power and activity indicators.
- Meets Raspberry Pi HAT+ specification standards.
- Comes with installation accessories such as a ribbon cable, 16mm stacking header, threaded spacers, screws, and a knurled double-flanged screw for securing the M.2 peripheral.
- Operates within a temperature range of 0°C to 50°C.

Easy to install

Super easy to install and allows me to now boot off my RPi SSD and get rid of my microSD card. I have this sitting in the official red/white case with the top held on with a rubber band as it still fits, just doesn't clip on.

Nice accessory to the Raspberry Pi 5

Purchased the HAT with a RPi 5 starter kit. Easy to put together and had things up an running within an hour.

This HAT doesn't suit the case that comes with the starter kit but I made it work.

Makes the Pi5 so much more useful

This allows one to add memory to the pi5 allowing it to be so much more useful. It really shows how far the Raspberry pis have become..

Price is small. It fits onto the pi5 with a few screws and stand offs. The slightly harder part is ti ensure that the PCI ribbon connection is connected first as per instructions and that the ribbon is connected. It is alot easier to do this at this stage than after fitting the HAT.

The had makes the pi5 very solid and brick like. No problems is connecting the cables to the pi5.

Can't put the lid on the case though. This card get in the way.
