Weighed-up reviews / comparisons of a Kindle versus a Kobo and decided to go with the Kobo. I can access library e-books and audiobooks for free and/or make purchases from the Kobo store. Very happy with the device, but my LOCAL library doesn't have the 'Overdrive' facility to make downloading straight forward. Ended-up using a family member's membership from a library (that utilises Overdrive) in a different town to access e-books at the click of a button.Check whether your local library uses Overdrive and if not, ensure they can help you get the Kobo up and running. I LOVE IT! I chose this product specifically compared Kindle for multiple reasons. Kobo Libra 2 although still small and able to fit into jersey pockets and small handbags also has a bigger screen. It makes it easier and faster to read books as you get more of the book on a single page. It has all the features of a Kindle and more, it has a good statistic section with more detail about your reading and has the ability to sync to your local library for you to access Ebooks through your library. Therefore, if I don't feel like spending $14 on the kobo subscription or the reduced prices for the Ebooks available you can read your library books...view more I LOVE IT! This brand in particular is great for connecting to OverDrive so you can borrow from your public library in New Zealand. The price is worth every penny with the e-ink, snappy response and options of using the touch screen or buttons for page turning. The front is not flat but it actually makes it nicer to hold. There's also plenty of storage for your own books. It has bluetooth and can also play audiobooks AND is waterproof. Very happy with this purchase. I bought the Kobo Libra 2 so I could read library titles while travelling and it has worked well so far. I like the adjustable lighting and its overall lightness. I had to buy the cover elsewhere as it wasn't available at the same store, and that was an extra cost. I finally replaced my 9 year old kindle paperwhite with a Kobo, and I have no regrets.

I did so much research before deciding on the kobo libra. The clincher for me was that you can link to your public library and download directly on your device. Something other brands don’t allow.

Loving my kobo. Purchased three weeks ago on sale, good price for the item. I tossed up between the Libra 2 and the Nia for a long time. The store ended up only having the Libra which turned out to be the best decision maker - I can't imagine using an e-reader without buttons now. Battery life is amazing. Loving my kobo. I am absolutely delighted with my Kobo Libra reader. I did my homework and it has proved an excellent deal. I'm also delighted at the wonderful service I received from PB Tech. I ordered the Kobo later in the afternoon on one day and it arrived next morning. And this was quite close to Christmas. I am absolutely delighted with my Kobo Libra reader. The Kobo Libra 2 is a well built device, with a sharp and good sized screen and just about as much storage as anyone would need.
I really appreciate the hardware buttons for page turning and other UI elements (though you can still tap, swipe, long press the screen).
The killer feature for me is being able to borrow ebooks directly from Auckland Libraries, as well as directly loading standard epub files and pdfs. The Kobo Libra 2 is a well built device, with a sharp and good sized screen and just about as much storage as anyone would need.
