SATECHI Aluminum 4 Port USB-C Hub - Space Grey

I realise the onus is on me for missing this line of text: "USB-C ports do not support video output or charging." I don't actually have any peripherals that I can use with it, it turns out.

I'm really curious to know what USB-C peripherals people have that are good for something like this .. everything I want USB-C for is video pass through and/or need power - it won't even power an iPhone charger, and I'm not sure whether it would power an external drive. I needed a USB C hub for my M1 Macbook Pro and this seemed perfect. Spec said up to 5 Gbps but in reality the hub halved the speed of my Samsung T7 and T5 drives. Plug the drive directly in to the mac and it was over twice the speed. Handy if you need more ports but not it you need them to be fast. I have another Satehci Hub and it's great. Like a few other reviews, I made the mistake of buying this to expand my USB - C capability but I also needed video support for one of those ports which this does NOT do. Specifically brought this product on the recommendation of the sales pers, e’g’ to drive SSD and Belkin USB-C to Ethernet. After experience numerous problems and spent lots of time trying to narrow down problems I reached out to SATECHI And they said it was not suitable for either purpose. As far as I know, this is the only hub available for 4 USB-C ports. I use it to connect SSDs for photos and backups. It appears well made and to function perfectly.
