Arlo Ultra 2 4K Outdoor Wire-Free Battery Camera - Add-on

Watch out with this product, the box says that its included 1year plan trial (but it's only for 1080p resolution, and not for the 4k which is the full potential of the cameras). What's the point in get this free plan then if not allowing you to explore the full potential of the cameras?

When buying at the store I have been told by the seller that in the price I have a free plan, but haven't explained in detail (perhaps by mistake as box is not clear) what was included on that plan.

Also these are not working properly at home. It should record in 4k at home (live stream) but not working... Arlo support haven't been able to support.

2nd step: return this and get something else as for 1080p resolution you can get much better and cheaper solutions.

Cons
There are 3 major issues which led me to replace the Arlo cameras with cheaper brand but more stable.

Battery Life - this is a major one, in a busy area the battery will barely last for 24 hours, I lowered the sensitivity and video quality but didn't help. In a less busy environment would last 4-5 days, the advertised months of battery life is with close to zero recording and defiantly not using 4K.

Connectivity - another major item, the cameras disconnect all the time, sometimes after a few minutes, sometimes after 15-20min, sometimes one camera will disconnect, in some cases all cameras become unavailable

Base Station - this is a major design issue, the Arlo cameras can work only with the base station, which is using its own and dedicated SSID broadcasted from the base stations, the cameras are connecting to this SSID.
In large areas it might not be enough, but the most significant issue is the interference with the existing WiFi.
Arlo recommend not to place any WiFi routers/APs between the base station and the cameras but this might be impossible in some cases.
I have very decent WiFi set up with 3 APs so why not to use that to connect between the cameras and base station.

It is a good package which suits most homes.
The quality of the cameras are unbeatable, and they are so easy to set up. If the camera is in a high traffic area, the batteries will last much less than the six months shown on the Arlo website. The solution is to add a solar panel to recharge. It is a good package which suits most homes.

The camera was easy to activate and pair with a hub which also had to be purchased. The rechargeable battery (supplied) takes only a few hours to reach full charge but has to be mounted in the camera house ro charge with the magnetic charging attachment cable. Detection is excellent, the camera can use geofencing to limit the area surveilled it can follow people (even animals) around and the phone app allows customisation of detection through levels of sensitivity and you can filter out pets, straying animals. Alerts are sent to the phone app. There is also facility to use the onboard speaker to talk with say a delivery person or friend. Also an alarm cam be linked to the device if necessary. Works well with Apple HomeKit too. 4K resolution but normal operation can use lower res to conserve battery and storage. The battery should last 6 months with normal use on a full charge then needs to be recharged. Very happy with he purchase.

Bought to replace another one where the battery kept draining and eventually wouldn’t charge. Also the female screw part in the back has come out of both of our other cameras as it’s just glued in. Purchased two cameras and a base station. One camera began to fail after 18 months, with an intermittent fault. The charger also failed. PB Tech refused replacement so I had to buy another camera.
Be aware that you need an expensive subscription to store any recorded video, however there is a slot under the base station for an SD card so video can be stored locally, they just don't make this known.

Most captured video I have viewed cannot be used to identify anyone - so not useful at all.
There is no way on either the App or the online management of the cameras to extend the recording time despite what Arlo claim in the Support pages. Unable to get further support because I don't have the subscription.
Based the dual failures of the camera, and the charger, the expensive subscription and the useless video the system produces I cannot recommend this product.

Bought this camera to add onto an existing network. Had tried other brands previously and left disappointed so tried Arlo and havent been disappointed. These cameras are better than I expected. Having Swann products I found set up complex compared to Arlo that isn’t and these camera high def gives great quality viewing and sound.
