Shark Detect Pro IW3611 Cordless Stick with Auto Empty System

Before buying, I was worried the suction wouldn't be strong enough, but after using it, I found it meets my daily needs. There are no kids or pets at home, and I clean the carpet in each room once a week — the suction is more than sufficient. Unlike Dyson, it doesn’t require drilling a hole in the wall to mount the charger. Plus, the automatic dust emptying after each use is incredibly convenient. I already have a Dyson V8 Animal which has coped well with white fluffy cat and dog for four years. But we have a two-storey house and I'm forever going up and down stairs to empty it in the garage. It is a luxury to have this Shark empty itself into the cannister! It picks up fluff well and gets close to skirtings and furniture. I like that it adjusts automatically to the hard bathroom and kitchen floors, and that the charger unit doesn't have to be screwed to the wall. So far I'm very pleased with it! We bought this Shark Stick vacuum as a replacement for our long serving corded vacuum cleaner. There was no doubt that was on its last legs but it had lasted us well for about 10 years. This new vacuum definitely does a better job by comparison in terms of suction, ease of emptying and variety of attachments. What I do not like however is the TERRIBLE battery life - you'd be lucky to get 20 minutes on the 'standard' mode, far from the 1 hour they advertise, and then that's it - no more vacuuming until it's charged again (which appears to be about 5 hours for "full"). I also think there are way too many 'gadgety parts' to it and I'm certain various of them will fail within a couple of years, and you know they'll all be specific to this manufacturer and model. Also some of the advertising nonsense they use is hilarious, such as "Light Detection Technology for revealing hidden dirt piles" - literally a torch that shines out the front. The lights!! The head detects sides and lights up in that direction. I’m just when you think it can’t get any better, you put it on it stand and it comes alive and sucks all the dust into its belly. I purchased this vacuum from PB Tech after I made a wrong choice of vacuum directly from Shark. So very happy that I scouted around online and came accross the one I really wanted at almost $400 cheaper and should have purchased online but the cost deterred me. PB Tech have some great deals and this was one. Love the ease of cleaning, flexible stem to reach under beds and furniture and those tricky spots makes this cordless vacuum and self cleaning shoot into an easy empty large canister serves me well.
