After replacing the printer still wouldn’t function. Cleaned the connections and it kicked into life. Checked the old toner unit and it was almost empty, so seems a waste due to the brother device. My printer had recently had the same WT box replaced with a genuine part (via PBT). Probably printed less than 1000 pages, then got code messages that replacement needed, so I was forced to buy a new one.

It turned out that by tightening a screw on the WT box (which improves the contact) the code stopped and didn't need a replacement after all. This was not part of Brother instructions but via Google that I found the solution. Not impressed.

Ordered this online for my Mum. Took a few days to arrive but that was courier issues in Hamilton. She has informed me she is happy with waste toner unit meaning she can use her printer again. Would have loved to be able to empty the previous waste toner bottle and reuse it, but fully dismantling it to do so wasn’t a viable option. This replacement unit was an easy swap and replace option instead. I ordered this item in Christchurch and as it is seldom required it needed to come from Auckland. I was advised that it would take 2 weeks.
The price was great so I was prepared to wait. BUT.... the items were delivered by courier to my office 3 days after the order was placed. \
