The Rolling Ball Timer is part of Academy's Da Vinci Machine Series (kit #18174). It's inspired by Leonardo da Vinci's sketches for an escapement mechanism that uses gravity and motion to track time.


It's a snap-together model with pre-colored, textured plastic parts-no glue, paint, or tools needed-making it beginner-friendly and clean to build.
Illustrated step-by-step instructions are included, plus realistic decals for extra detail. The kit provides a fun hands-on lesson in gravity, kinetics, and mechanical escapements .

When assembled, precision gears drive a seesaw-style platform that propels a rolling ball. As the ball moves, it shows the passage of time, with speed adjustable by adding weight to the gear arm.

Returns & Warranty

7 day right of exchange

If you change your mind after making a purchase, or realise you have ordered the incorrect item, you can enjoy the peace of mind that we offer a 7 day exchange policy.

To exchange a product, goods must be sealed / unopened, with packaging in original condition, and accompanied by a valid receipt dated no more than 7 calendar days from when you request an exchange.

If there is not a suitable product that can be exchanged for your returned item you will be offered a credit on your account or gift card based on the value paid at the time of purchase.

Please note, items purchased on finance cannot be exchanged for a gift card.
