Background

The Nina, along with the Pinta and the Santa Maria, was one of the three ships with which Christopher Columbus set sail to find a new sea route to India. Instead of finding a new route, he discovered a new continent, America, on this voyage. Like the PINTA, the NINA also belonged to the Pinzon brothers. The commander of the 60-ton caravel with its 22-man crew was Yanez Pinzon, the youngest of the three brothers.
