Features

The Gato class of submarines was built for the United States Navy and launched in 1941-1943; they were the first mass-production U.S. submarine class of World War II. Together with their near-sisters the Balao and Tench classes, their design formed the majority of the United States Navy's World War II submarine fleet.

Compared to other submarines of the time, Gato-Class submarines could almost be considered luxurious. They were air-conditioned, equipped with refrigerators, and even had a bunk for every crewman. Nevertheless, they were still claustrophobic, dangerous postings. Of 77 Gato-Class vessels launched, 20 were lost. Despite their casualties, the American Submarine Fleet devastated Japanese shipping and the IJN. Gato-Class vessels like Wahoo, Darter, Dace and more are legends in the annals of naval history to this day.

This kit features display stand, detailed 4-in gun, and detailed 20/40mm guns on the sail.
