Features

The Golf is one of Volkswagen's most iconic cars. From its first appearance in 1974, the Volkswagen Golf has continued to develop and lead the worldwide compact car class, all the while also actively participating in motorsport. The second-generation model - the result of a full model change in 1983 - had a GTi sports model with a 1,781cc inline-4 engine. This assembly kit R/C model depicts that car, which met with success in global rally races, in 1986 becoming champion of its class. It features a lightweight and durable polycarbonate body, paired with the MF-01X chassis that parlays its shaft-driven 4WD into a great drive on road and flat dirt.

The classic lines of the Golf II are rendered artfully by the polycarbonate body.

Headlight cases and spotlights are separately molded parts that are compatible with separately sold LED light unit.

Dedicated parts recreate the distinctive side mirrors, and stickers are used for the mirror surfaces.

Taillight cases are separate parts, and can be combined with separately sold LED light unit. The bumper is also a separate component.

A close-up on the double wishbone front suspension. Uprights and hub carriers are off-road spec.

A slimline three-piece monocoque forms the centerpiece of the MF-01X chassis, and the propeller shaft is positioned to the right.

The motor is planted in the 4WD chassis' rear, with power going via gears to the rear wheels and propeller shaft to the front.

This image shows the double wishbone rear suspension with its coil sprung dampers.

Dish wheels are paired with rally block tires.
