TP-Link Deco X10 Dual-Band AX1500 WiFi 6 Whole-Home Mesh System - 2 Pack

Just thought I'd pay it forward after a review for X20 solved my installation problem with my bring your own modem plan for OneNZ fibre.

NOTE: there is an option that comes up during the setup - enable IPTV/VLAN - if you have fibre then you must enable this, and then there is a drop down menu from which you can select 'New Zealand - UFB' - select this and you will be good to go.

Recently moved to a Lockwood home and the router was struggling to get the signal through the walls by itself. After switching over to a mesh network, the signal and speeds have pumped up significantly. Just plug it straight into your fibre box and ditch the router altogether! It does require a mobile app to complete installation. I recommend doing a quick guide search on Youtube to help you figure out what to do as it's not exactly plug-n-play. Does need some fiddling. Most important thing is when setting up the network, make sure you go to advanced options, enable IPTV, then select the New Zealand option from the drop down menu. We had an where a client needed internet connectivity in their garage / sleep out as well as in the house but wanted it to all be on the same network.
After trying with other brands we grabbed three Decco devices , set them up and had a great result within 30 minutes.
The network connections have got faster and stronger over time as it learns / adapts to the wifi signals around it and it has moved itself onto the best channels. The client now has the same Wifi upstairs, downstairs and in the garage. Devices roam. A great result. I purchased this mesh setup to replace an old single router.

It was so simple and easy to set up the system and it works brilliantly with high coverage across the house. It even gets fast internet down to our office/sleepout which is a big improvement on the wireless extender we were using previously.

When people are asking for recommendations for mid-range-priced routers, I always refer them to the X10. The X10's are by no means slow, in fact they perform outstandingly with entry-tier fibre plans.

The Deco app is very intuitive, flexible, and straightforward to use. Sometimes the light indicator and app status can be misleading at times but as long as you have followed the setup instructions to the tee you should not have many issues with your network.
