Brother QL700 Label Printer

Excellent little label printer. It's a little old now and has been superceded by newer models, but it works great. I love that it has a built-in cutter so you can buy a continuous roll, print off a big batch of labels, and end up with a pile of perfectly cut individual labels, rather than having to cut them up yourself. The print quality is decent and it prints really quickly. The software you need to use is really dated at this point (seriously, looks like a Windows 98-era application), but it's simple, pretty easy to use, and does what you need it to do. The software you need to use is really dated at this point (seriously, looks like a Windows 98-era application), but it's simple, pretty easy to use, and does what you need it to do. It's a thermal printer so you never need to buy more ink - the label rolls are pretty expensive, but you can pick up compatible ones for cheap on AliExpress. I use this printer mostly to print labels for my homebrew beer, and it does a great job. For the price, it's hard not to recommend this printer.

One thing to note that I wish I'd been told when I bought it: if you're using Windows 10, you need to hold down the "editor lite" button (to the left of the power button) for a few seconds until the LED turns off, otherwise Windows will not recognise it as a printer. You only have to do that once, not every time you turn the printer on. Once you do that and install the drivers from the Brother website, it works perfectly.

I almost didn't buy this product because of the 1 star review saying it doesn't work well with Windows 10. I called brothers free NZ technical support line and they assured me it works fine with Windows 10 and that if I had any trouble setting it up I could call them and they would walk me through it over the phone. When I got the product, to my surprise it simply worked easily and immediately upon plugging it in - I didn't need to call the helpline at all =) I almost didn't buy this product because of the 1 star review saying it doesn't work well with Windows 10. You failed to mention there is a win10 conflict issue with this label printer. It can be fixed I gather but only after hours of fiddling and googling. If you are in the market for a label printer and use a Mac or windows 10 don’t bother

Printer cannot be used on macs anymore as the developers will not update the app so It cannot be run on a mac (to even find the app you need a windows machine aswell to copy the hidden mac folder to a usb then onto your mac)

Windows 10 it won’t even show up with 9 different drivers and softwares being installed and tried from the brother website including the cd that comes with the product

Windows 11 you have to go to the brother website download the software then it will tell you it can’t install the drivers then proceed to put the CD from the box in and try install it will then tell you it can’t install because it’s to old click continue it will then wipe the old/new drivers and install the ones from the cd which will then make the printer be able to work on the machine
