I bought two of these USB to RS-232 converter cables. They plugged in and worked on both Windows 7 and Ubuntu Linux, as expected. In Windows I already had the correct drivers (Prolific) due to already having a similar device, and the Linux kernels have supported this chipset for a long time now. The cables were long enough for what I need. However, the reason I am only giving 4 stars instead of 5 is that on arrival, one of them was faulty - it would receive just fine, but would not transmit. PB Tech were efficient and helpful at replacing the faulty one, and the replacement worked fine. I bought two of these USB to RS-232 converter cables. Purchased one of these for accessing the console of networking equipment. Have used it to access Cisco, Unifi, and HPE gear without issues. Using my HP Elitebook 8460p (Ex lease from PB tech, and still going strong) with Windows 10 I have not issues in using it. It works plug and play out of the box, no drivers needed. Not sure about windows 7 or 8 nor if it will work under Linux. Note you will still need a console cable to link to your equipment (not included).
