I desperately needed some new ports, and lots of them, because the onboard USB 2.0 ports on my PC have been dying/malfunctioning.

So I was searching for something reasonably priced, with enough ports, and preferably an upgrade to USB 3.0, and the Orico Desktop PC 7 Port USB 3.0 PCI-E Expansion Card was just right!

I've only had it installed for about 2 months, but in that time it's operated perfectly. Couldn't be happier!

As an avid flight simmer, with 7 devices running from external switchwed USB hubs, and having to switch these off then on again to initialise, was fast becoming OLD!
Enter the Orico Desktop PC 7 Port USB 3.0 PCI-E Expansion Card!! Perfect, devices always on. No need to crawl under the desk to unplug, plug in USB leads. Or reach across to the hubs and switch them in and out. Brilliant. Highly recommend for adding a new motherboard mounted hub Even comes with the needed SATA Power supply extension cable. Yes, I needs its own power supply. I purchased this adapter to circumvent issues I was having with my M5a97 R2.0 motherboard's USB controller in Windows 10 eg. stopping and starting and sluggish performance across multiple USB devices. During the month or so I've been using this adapter the issues seem to have been completely remedied.

It works fine even with my external wifi adapter, which the supplied manual suggested can be an issue - I'm using the TPLink TL-WN822N. I'm so glad to no longer be getting disconnected from the internet 20 times a day! My Orico BTA-402 bluetooth adapter works fine from this also. It seems that I didn't need to set any power management settings for this device in BIOS with my motherboard, but like others have said you need to plug an external power adapter into the card from your PSU.

All in all, I'm very pleased with the price of the card for the convenience it provides, and am happy to be running all 5 of my USB devices (mouse, keyboard, webcam, bluetooth dongle, external wifi) from the card with stability.

I installed this in a new build. It works as designed, really useful for all the extra peripherals around graphic design and flight sim. The only awkward part of the install is it was difficult to locate the drivers required. I installed this in a new build.
