I tried 3 x PC, 2 with Windows11, 1 with Windows10. All of them not functional with its build in mic. The lucky thing is that we bought from PB Tech. This device is a great little webcam with a nice picture quality and sound quality for the price!

It works well with my Ubuntu 25.04 so should work with other Linux based distros

at the start the camera was detected and worked with some of the camera apps available but not with wechat so here is what I did to get it to work as expected:
1) installed the wechat version for ubuntu from https://linux.weixin.qq.com/en

3) ubuntu puts a loopback camera as /dev/video0 but wechat and some other apps expect your default webcam to be using this!
4) so how to fix the problem:
a) go to termial
b) sudo -s
c) cd /etc/modprobe.d
d) vim v4l2loopback.conf (you can use what ever text edit you like!)
press i for insert or what you use
e) enter these two lines at the top exactly
blacklist v4l2loopback
install v4l2loopback /bin/false
f) :wx to write and save the changes
g) ensure that /dev/video0 is root:video and they both have rw permissions
ls -l /dev/video0
if it is not:
chown root:video /dev/video0
chmod 660 /dev/video0
h) also ensure your user is a member of group video or they will not be able to access the webcam:
groups <YourUsername> (if you see video your good to go!)
usermod -a -G video <YourUsername>
i) exit terminal
j) you must restart ubuntu for these changes to take effect this is a must!

what you should see now is
a) go back into terminal
b) v4l2-ctl --list-devices (you may need to install)
this should show that reppo webcam is /dev/video0

You should be good to go and wechat gets the correct default webcam

Got this a couple of years ago and it hasn't missed a beat. Not as good quality as higher priced items however, gives crystal clear pictures and had no issues with the sound/mic.
