The TR-004 can also be utilized as a DAS (Direct-attached Storage) device, allowing you to directly access its content just by connecting it via USB. Amazing

I am currently using it as a das (direct attach storage) and not as an expansion for a NAS it works really well. Even tho you can tell the software is made for it to be connected to a nas still works perfectly fine. And it has the simplicity of use like all qnap products.

Can't add a disk!

Generally not the fastest file access, but that's ok depending on your use. I started off with 3 disk in it, and now I find that I cannot add a 4th to the RAID unless I start from scratch. That makes it utterly useless for me, as I can't expand to the size I need.
