We got one to install in the laptop also and another extra drive, works like a charm. We need the extra space on the computer, and this does the trick. Excellent. Didnt work full stop. Had to get a replacement so upspeced and went for a different manufacturer slightly more expensive - you could see the difference in quality - no fine micro threads of rough plastic off the casting. New drive works well. Don't think I'd go for Crucial again as its been 0/1 so far. Didnt work full stop. Bought this 1 tbt ssd drive to instal in a USB c hub attached to my new Mac mini m1 with 256 go ssd.
Works really well, speed is great and I have saved over $500 by not having to buy a bigger internal ssd.
Performance speed difference is negligible.

I bought this to swap out the mechanical hard disk in an old 2015-era laptop. Everything else about this computer is good enough for me, but the old disk was bottlenecking performance and causing it to take forever to load any apps. Did the trick.
